Random thoughts

I have been noticing many more motorcycles and especially scooters lately. I attribute that to the price of petro. Let's not even talk about have much it costs to fill up the Armada. Funny thing though, while Jeff and I were driving to Costco the other day, we saw a man riding a scooter with 4 rolled up pieces of sod tied to the back of the scooter. I never really thought a scooter would be an efficient way of hauling sod. We had a great laugh thinking that if he brought that many rolls of sod home a day for a month, he might be able to fill up his yard. After we left Costco, we saw another funny scooter scene. A lady in her sixties, riding a pink scooter, with a pink helmet. Very color coordinated. I never really pictured somebody that age enjoying the scooter scene. Apparently, she was very into it. My mom is not too far from sixy and I just can't picture her going to and fro on a scooter. Although, she does enjoy her rides on her tandum bike...so who knows.



The other night, Jeff and I were sitting on the front porch enjoying the sunset and weather. A car drove slowly past our house, really checking out our home. It then turned around and drove slowly by again. The driver then asked us if we liked our house. We told him yes and then Jeff said, "Why? You want to buy it?" Then the driver told us he was the original owner of the house back in 1991. He told us about all his memories of the house and all the work he went to putting in the yard and especially the sod. I guess I'm not so much attached to the house, mostly just to the people in it. I really like the house and the big yard--I would like a bedroom or two more. Anyway, that's beside the point. After further discussion, we discovered many more connections to these people. Our old home teacher was now his home teacher. Her father used to live in our ward. Her brother still lives in our ward. Her sister is selling the empty lot down the street. And finally, his company bid on some stickers (Remarks) for American Crafts quite a while ago. Anyway, kind of funny all the connections we have to these people. I would have invited them in to take a look at the place but it's such a wreck. Which brings me to another point. I feel as though I'm playing catch up every day. And I don't know where to begin. I'm losing control of my house to say the least. Oh well...I guess I'll reclaim the house when summer is over.

Many of the people residing in my house give what we lovingly refer to as "grinners." It's a big, goofy smile that shows all your teeth and your eyes are big and wide. As Mils was leaving church on Sunday, she was pretty excited about the Littlest Pet Shops that were waiting for her in her car seat. She told me she was so happy to see them and then told me, "I'm so happy. Look at this grin on my face." And then proceeded to smile this exact grin, while looking over her shoulder.

Spa Party

Kate had a birthday party with her friends. She wanted to have a spa party. All the girls gave themselves a facial and pedicure. I painted toe nails and they painted their own nails. Then Grandy made some delicious food for the tea party after their pampering. Pretty fun time...though I'm not sure I'm ready for a bunch of giddy teenage girls to hang out at my house anytime soon.

SKM took these photos of Scootch today. Is HE bugged that school is out? Or is he just bothered with the flash? He looks a bit like I feel....I'll need a vacation after our summer "vacation."

So...my eldest...is...(sniff, sniff)....11!! I can hardly believe it!! Where has all the time gone? She had a great day. We lunched at Macaroni Grill to celebrate her birthday and the last day of school. Grandy, Sarah, Laura and Gage joined us. Then she went with McKenna to shop at the mall. After dinner, some more family came over to sing birthday wishes and partake of cake. It was a fun day. Next week we have big plans for a friend party.
